SHEEP
Rules:
1. All State of
Wisconsin mandatory health
regulations apply.
See
County and District Fairs, Rules and Regulations of Animal
Health in the front portion of this book.
2. In addition the following
rules will also be enforced:
3 Any single animal may be
entered as one of a pen, but shall not otherwise be entered in
more than one class. All group classes must consist of at least
one open class entry.
4 Stall rent will be $.50
per animal and must be paid at the time of filing of the entry
blank.
5 All pedigrees must be
checked with the superintendent at Check-In.
6 Market lambs will be
graded before being judged.
7 Registered
Columbias,
Corriedales, Rambouillets, and Targhees shall be shown with 2
inches of wool or less. All other breeds shall have been
completely shorn not more than 2 months nor less than 2 weeks
prior to show date.
8. All animals must be owned
by the exhibitor for at least 60 days prior to fair.
9. All sheep must have their
tails docked.
10. All animals in this
department must be REGISTERED in the accredited records of their
respective breeds.
AGE DEFINITIONS
A) Spring lamb is one born on or after February 16
of the exhibit year.
B) Fall Lamb is one born between September 1 and
December 31of preceding exhibit year.
C) Winter Lamb is one born between January 1 and
February 15
of the exhibit year.
D) Yearling Ram or Ewe is one born outside the
date of birth
limitations in (a), (b), or (c). The age of yearlings may
be subject to verification by a veterinarian's examination whose
findings shall be final.
E) Market Lamb is one born after January 1 of the
exhibit year.
GROUP DEFINITIONS
A get
of sire shall consist of 4 lambs or yearlings, or both,
of either sex from one sire, bred and owned by the exhibitor.
An
exhibitor's flock shall consist of one yearling or ram
lamb, 2 yearling ewes and 2 ewe lambs owned by the exhibitor.
Pen of
Lambs - animals must be bred and owned by exhibitor.
Class A -

Class C - Southdown Class D -

Class E - Any other Purebred, Registered breed
