RULES:
1.
All photography work exhibited in this department must
have been made since the last county fair. Exhibitors must
enter classes that match the unit and year in which they are
enrolled. Exhibitors may enter only one exhibit per lot number.
2.
Exhibitors may enter any class
and lot numbers appropriate for age with a maximum of 30
projects. During Face to Face judging, exhibitor can only have
10 projects judged at one sitting. All exhibitors will have
equal opportunity to spend time with a judge.
3.
Photo entries will be judged and awarded ribbons as
follows: Story telling ability within the photo will be 20%;
photo quality and mounting will be 30%; and picture composition
will be 50%. The only exception will be the Graduate Portfolio
in Class H – Photography Portfolio.
4.
Photographs entered must demonstrate the exhibitor’s
knowledge of photography. All entries MUST be the
exhibitor’s original work. A copy, in whole or in part, will be
disqualified.
5.
Photo exhibits must be mounted
onto a sturdy piece of 11”x14” black or white poster board. An
optional thin material, such as construction paper may be
mounted under photos. This under mount should not extend more
than ¼” from beneath the edge of the photo. NO matte or foam
board accepted except for the Photo Enlargements Class B lot #’s
17 – 22; Class D lot #’s 17 – 32; Class F lot #’s 11-14 and
Class G lot #’s 19-36. Not using matte and foam board in
Enlargements will not affect the judging outcome. No frames or
hooks on back of entries will be accepted.
6.
Photo sets of 3 may be cropped no smaller than 3”x3”.
Cropping a photo must improve the composition and have some
background. Photo sets will contain photos no larger than 4” x
6”. Photo enlargements must be 5” x 7” or larger.
7.
The front of the exhibit will contain the photos and any
optional under-mounts. These items must be mounted securely
with a sturdy adhesive, such as rubber cement or archival
adhesive. No other decoration, captions, or title will be
allowed. The only exception will be the Captioned Photos in
Class F – “All Class Photography”.
8.
Entry tags need to be mounted
on the front of the exhibit,
with tape or rubber cement.
9.
A 3”x5” index card must be included on the back upper-left
of each photo entry. The card should include: the camera type
(simple camera, 35mm auto, 35mm manual, digital to be used
ONLY IN DIGITAL CLASS); film speed (ASO
or ISO found on negative edge); special exposure information;
lighting type; filters used; etc.
10.
All photos that are created by or from a computer-editing
program will be considered digital photographs and must be
entered in the digital class.

DIGITAL PHOTO ENHANCEMENT
Must be color photos, the original digital image is to then be
enlarged using a personal computer and printer with the final
enlargement being 5” x 7” minimum and 8” x 10” maximum. The
resulting enlargement shall show change by addition, deletion,
color change etc. The original photo must also be attached to
the front of the entry. Judging will also be on the standard
rules of composition. It must be the original work of the
exhibitor, downloading an image from the internet is not
allowed.

Photography
1. Exhibits may include color prints, B&W prints, or digital
prints.
2. Photos under “Captioned Photos” must include at least one
of the following: Caption on each photo, a title for the
exhibit, and/or additional decorations. Any caption or title
must relate to photos and be neatly printed, typed (or use
rubbed lettering).
3. Each slide exhibit must be placed in its own sealed
envelope with your name, class, and entry number written on the
outside of the envelope and each individual slide.

Class H - Photography
Portfolio
1. Teen Portfolio is for members fifteen years and older (not
in their last year). Entries will be judged face to face.
2. Graduate Portfolio is for graduating photo members with 5
or more years in the photo program.
3. Limit one portfolio entry per member. Entries will be
treated like a talent review for consideration of possible
employment in the field of photography.
4. Select your 10 best 8” x 10” photos from any years to show
off your talent as a photographer.
5. Photos must be placed within a single container:

An album of professional quality (not necessarily
