JUNIOR CLASS DOG RULES AND CLASSIFICATIONS

 

2008-2009
Department 9

DOGS

RULES:

1.     All State of Wisconsin mandatory health regulations apply. See County & District Fairs, Rules and Regulations of Animal health in front of this book.

2.     All Junior Fair rules apply. See Jefferson County Fair - Junior Fair Rules in front of this book. In addition, the following rules will also be enforced.

3.     All dog exhibits must be the result of regular 4-H or FFA project work.

4.     An exhibitor may enter only one dog in any one lot number. No dogs having any legs toward a CD degree may be shown in the Pre-Novice or Novice Classes. No dogs having any legs toward DCX degree may be shown in Pre-Open or Open Classes. They must be in the advance class.

5.     Each member must have trained the dog he/she enters.

6.     A member must show his dog in the class he has been training in during the current project year.

7.     Dogs shall wear a choke collar; shall be led with a training leash and will not be permitted off leash except while being judged. Exhibitors must keep dogs under control at all times.

8.     Dogs are required to have had DHLPP inoculations within the past year and rabies inoculations within the past 2 years. The certificate of these inoculations shall be presented to the superintendent prior to entry time.

9.     American Kennel Club rules will apply.

10.  To be eligible to show at the fair, a member must meet the project training attendance requirement.

 

CLASS A - Dog Obedience Trial

Lot #

1.     Pre-Novice (1st year): Grade 3-4

2.     Pre-Novice (1st year): Grade 5-6

3.     Pre-Novice (1st year): Grade 7-8

4.     Pre-Novice (1st year): Grade 9 & up

Exercises to be the same as Lot #1

5.     Pre-Novice B: Grade 3 & Up. Exhibitor has had previous experience in training a dog but is now training an untrained dog.

6.     Novice - 2nd year

7.     Graduate Novice - Intermediate

8.     Pre-Open

9.     Open

10.  Pre-Utility

11.  Utility

Premiums: Class A (Danish)$4.50-3.50-2.50-1.50

 

CLASS B - Showmanship

Lot #

1.     Showmanship: Grade 3-4

2.     Showmanship: Grade 5-6

3.     Showmanship: Grade 7-8

4.     Showmanship: Grade 9 & up

                OR

5.     Advance Showmanship: Any exhibitor that has won 3 or more showmanship classes. (Cannot enter Lot #1-4 if entered in Lot #5)

Premiums: Class B (Danish) $3.00-2.50-2.00-1.50

 

CLASS C - Scrapbook

JUDGED WITH SMALL ANIMALS & VET. Dept 10. (Monday PRE-FAIR)

Lot #

1.    First Year members – Grade 9 & up - Scrapbook

2.    First Year members – Grade 6-8 - Scrapbook

3.    First Year members – Grade 3-5 - Scrapbook

 4. All others - scrapbook

Premiums: Class C (Face-to-Face) $1.75-1.50-1.25-1.00
