SPEECHES & DEMONSTRATIONS

RULES:

1.     All State of Wisconsin and Jefferson County Fair rules apply. Both sets of rules are located in the front of this book. In addition the following rules will also be enforced.

2.     One part of the Speech and Demonstration Contest is a Pre Fair event with Special Emphasis.  If you want to get a premium, Speech/Demonstration must be preformed a second time Thursday during Fair along with Music & Drama judging. There are 4 categories of participation:  Demonstration, Illustrated Talk, Original Speech and Power Point Presentation.  Registration is held through the 4-H Special Emphasis Committee and UW-Extension.  Registration forms are in the 4-H Special Emphasis Family Packet and the 4-H Family Newsletter.  Rules and guidelines are located in the 4-H Special Emphasis Packet  Speech/demonstration may also be preformed during Fair that have not been previously done in conjunction with Special Emphasis .. i.e. FFA., 4-H member not participating in Special Emphasis.

3.     The second part for those that do not want to be part of Special Emphasis, enter on the Fair Entry form according to your Grade, prepare and present a speech or demonstration to the judge on Thursday during Fair.  The subject is the exhibitor's choice.

1.     Cloverbuds K-2nd 2 – 3 minutes – Participation Ribbon

2.     3rd Grade  3 – 4 minutes

3.     4th and 5th Grade  3 – 5 minutes

4.     6th  and 7th Grade  4 – 6 minutes

5.     8th and 9th Grade  5 – 7 minutes

6.     10th grade and Up  7 – 9 minutes

7.     Team Presentation  5 – 10 minutes

Premiums: Demonstrations (face to face) $3.00-2.75-2.50-2.25
