CLOTHING
RULES:
-
All State of
Wisconsin and Jefferson County Fair rules apply. Both sets
of rules are located in the front of this book. In addition
the following rules will also be enforced.
-
Open to members enrolled in Clothing project or doing
similar work.
-
All fair entries and clothing Preview Entries MUST BE
made on the official entry form.
-
A clothing exhibit cannot be entered in BOTH the Fair and
Clothing Preview.
-
Only one garment may be exhibited for each lot number in
the class that applies to your grade and project.
-
Clothing exhibits may have been worn but must be clean
and pressed for exhibit and judging at the Fair.
-
To prevent separation, twist tie hangers together if
entry has multiple hangers.
-
If garment does not stay on hanger, clip Clothes pins or
sew "hanger loops" to shoulders of top or skirt/pants. Use
only wire hangers for display.
Attach 3x5 card securely to the entry tag for all clothing
garments and accessories with the following information: 1)
fiber content, 2) intended use, 3) care instruction, 4)
pattern number and company, 5) cost of item, 6) type of
interfacing used, if any, 7) preparation of notions, if any
(such as zipper, trim, tapes, etc.). Failure to provide
this information will automatically drop the entry one
placing.

Each
entry must be the original work of the exhibitor and must be
a result of this year's project.

Exhibitor may use pre-assembled kits as long as the actual work
is done by the exhibitor (i.e. tee-shirt kit with knit
material and color coordinated ribbing material)

CLASS D – Clothing Decisions
Open to Members Grade 3 – 6
Lot #
1.
Scrapbook, poster, report,
display or photo story on Clothing Decisions (ex: body poster,
color cards, etc).
2.
Prepare a poster display or
Fashion Formula Notebook on color or fashion (ex: clothing
styles, textures of fabrics, color schemes, etc).
3.
Paper dolls to illustrate
color/line
4.
A Clothing first aid kit
5.
Scrapbook, poster, report,
display or photo story on wardrobe planning using at least one
or two wardrobe planning principles
6.
Scrapbook, poster, report,
display or photo story on Back-To-School shopping. Show your
budget, examples of ads and colors for you. Indicate what you
will purchase.
7.
Display a casual or
sportswear outfit. Pick you favorite outfit and state the
occasion. This outfit is to be purchased. The outfit should be
on a hanger, but the shoes and accessories may be pictures.
Explain your choices.
8.
Purchased ensemble –
exhibitor will select and display a complete outfit that is
suited to their age and body type. Exhibitor is allowed $75.00
which includes all visible items of clothing, excluding shoes.
Exhibitor must bring to judging all bills and receipts and a
detailed listing of the cost of total outfit. Exhibitor should
explain why he/she selected the garments, cost, color, fit,
construction, and choice of accessories.
Open to Members Grade 7 and Up

10.
Recycled garment – completely re-cut and sewn from old garment.
(Describe what was done and why. Include a before photo.)
11.
Scrapbook, poster, report, display or photo story on clothing
care. (ex: stubborn stains, types of detergents, etc.)
12.
Any exhibit illustrating and explaining how you developed your
own personal color chart. (Consider eye color, hair, etc.)
13.
Scrapbook, poster, report or photo story: Select 3 apparel
items. (ex: blouse, shirt, shorts, etc.) Visit 3 types of
stores. (ex: discount, specialty, catalog, etc) to compare the
quality and value of the items in each store.
14.
Any exhibit illustrating and explaining a career in the clothing
field.
15.
Display a garment and discuss its fashion trend in a one page
report. (Include cost per wearing, adaptability to seasons
and/or occasions, etc.)
16.
Display a casual or sportswear outfit. Pick you favorite outfit
and state the occasion. This outfit is to be purchased. The
outfit should be on a hanger, but the shoes and accessories may
be pictured. Explain your choices.
17.
Display a suitable career outfit. Include a brief job
description. This outfit is to be purchased and shown on a
hanger. The shoes and accessories may be pictured. Explain
your choices.
18.
Purchased ensemble. Exhibitor will select and exhibit a
complete outfit that is suited to their age and body type.
Exhibitor is allowed a budget of $100.00 which includes all
visible items of clothing, excluding shoes. Exhibitor must
bring to judging all bills and receipts and a detailed listing
of the cost of the total outfit. Exhibitor should explain why
he/she selected the garment, cost, color, fit, construction and
choice of accessories.
Premium:
Class D – Lots 1-8 (Face to Face) $2.50-2.25-2.00-1.75

CLASS E - CLOTHES: Horse
Open to members enrolled in Clothes Horse Project or doing
similar work.

CLOTHING PREVIEW
RULES:
1.
All
clothing preview entries must be made on the fair entry form.
2.
Open to
members enrolled in a clothing project or youth doing similar
work.
3.
A
clothing preview exhibit cannot be entered as a fair exhibit.
But must be on display during fair. Bring your preview garment
when you check in fair clothing entries.
4.
All
garments must have been made by the exhibitor - a garment can
only be entered in one class.
5.
Entries
will be judged on: a) suitability of garment to individual and
selection of color and design; b) general appearance, neatness,
posture and fit; c) construction to the extent that it affects
general appearance.
6.
Members
should be familiar with the following information at judging
time (you may carry a 3x5 card with the info): a) fiber content,
b) intended use, c) care instruction, d) type of interfacing
used, if any, e) preparation of notions, if any (such as zipper,
trim, tapes, etc.).
7.
Persons
participating in the clothing preview must model in the style
show during fair.
8.
All blue
ribbon winners will be asked to report back for Junior (grade
3-7 Classes E & F) or Senior (grade 8 & up - Class G)
Recognition Selection. Ten percent of each group are recognized
as an
Honor Circle and will receive
a rosette. Award of Excellence winners are selected from the
Honor Circle and announced at
the Style Show during fair.
9.
All
Senior (Class H – grade 8 & up) blue ribbon winners will be
asked to report back for selection of our representative for the
Wisconsin Junior State Fair.
10.
Shoes need not be brought to fair for display of “Clothing
Decisions” projects.
