OPEN CLASS POULTRY RULES AND CLASSIFICATIONS

POULTRY

 Rules:

 1.  All State of WI mandatory health regulations apply. See County & District Fairs, Rules &       Regulations of Animal Health.

 2.  In addition the following rules will also be enforced:

 3.  Open class exhibits are open to Jefferson County residents and residents of adjoining counties: Rock, Walworth, Waukesha, Dane and Dodge, space permitting.

 4.  State law prohibits exhibiting wild game at this fair. An exhibitor's game farm license does not cover the fair.

 6.  All poultry exhibits are to be made single, unless otherwise noted.

 7.  Only poultry as listed may be entered. No other entries will be accepted.

 8.  Owners bring birds at their own risk.

 9.  Awards will be made by comparison on both production and exhibitor factors. The American Standard of Perfection shall be main guide of the judges.

10. All birds exhibited must have been reared by the exhibitor.

11. A charge of $.50 for feed and housing will be made on each specimen with payment to be sent with entry blank.

12. An exhibitor may not enter more than 1 cock, 1 hen, 1 cockerel, or 1 pullet under each lot number. An exhibitor may not enter or bring more than 50 birds.

13. Entry tags will not be sent to exhibitors. Tags will be placed directly on the cages at the fairgrounds. PLEASE check with the superintendent before placing any birds in the cages at the fair.

14. Certificate of Pullorum Typhoid blood test is to be attached to fair entry blanks. Certificates are necessary to exhibit poultry at fair (exceptions being waterfowl, doves and pigeons). The attachment of these papers is mandatory for fair entries.

AGE CLASSIFICATIONS:

Cock, Hen, Old Drake, Old Gander, Old Goose, Old Tom and Old Hen - Hatched before January 1 of exhibit year.
Cockerel, Pullet, Young Drake, Young Duck, Young Gander, Young Tom, Young Hen, and Young Cock - Hatched after January 1 of exhibit year.
Chicken, Turkey and Pigeon must be at least eight (8) weeks of age at time of exhibit.
Waterfowl must be at least ten (10) weeks of age at time of exhibit.
