JUNIOR CLASS RABBIT RULES AND CLASSIFICATIONS

 

Department 8

RABBITS

RULES:

1.     All State of Wisconsin Mandatory health regulations apply. See State, County & District fairs, Rules and Regulations of Animal Health in front of this book.

2.     All Junior Fair rules apply. See Jefferson County Fair - Junior Fair Rules in front         of this book. In addition the following rules will also be enforced:

3.     Each exhibitor may not exceed 16 entries, showmanship to be included.

4.     All exhibitors must show their own rabbits unless prior arrangements have been made with the superintendent due to judging conflicts.

5.     All purebred rabbits should be permanently marked in the left ear.

6.     Each exhibitor must furnish feed and water containers for their rabbits.

7.     Carriers used to bring rabbits to the fair MUST be taken home during the fair.

8.     All exhibitors must do two (2) hours of barn duty during the fair.

9.     All exhibitors are required to wear long sleeved white shirts to show their rabbits (including showmanship). Show coats will NOT be allowed.

10.  All rabbits must be checked in with superintendent before they are put into cages.

11.  A $.25 per rabbit, non-refundable cage fee will be charged.

12.  The Superintendent or Fair Board in cooperation of the Fair Vet has the right to send home rabbits that are sick or in case of hazardous weather.

13.  All exhibitors are expected to sign up for either set-up or take down at Fair.

AGE  & WEIGHT CLASSIFICATIONS per the RBA Standard Book

Senior Buck - a male over 6 months of age &/or weight requirements

Senior Doe - a female over 6 months of age &/or weight requirements

Junior Buck - a male under 6 months of age &/or weight requirements

Junior Doe - a female under 6 months of age &/or weight requirements

In the New Zealand, California and other commercial breeds the following ages shall apply:

Senior Buck - a male over 8 months of age &/or weight requirements

Senior Doe - a female over 8 months of age &/or weight requirements

Intermediate Buck - a male 6 to 8 months of age &/or weight require.

Intermediate Doe - a female 6 to 8 months of age &/or weight require.

Junior Buck - a male under 6 months of age &/or weight requirements

Junior Doe - a female under 6 months of age &/or weight requirements

Premiums: Class A through D (Danish) $2.00-1.75-1.50-1.25

CLASS C - Meat Animals

1.     An exhibitor may enter all three meat classes.

2.     May not be entered in any other class or lot#

Lot #

1.     Meat pen - Consist of 3 rabbits, any breed, all same breed and variety. No rabbit may be over 69 days old and not over 5 pounds.

2.     Single fryer - Not over 69 days old and between 3 and 5 pounds.

3.     Roaster rabbit - May be either sex - between 70 and 180 days of age. Must be 5 pounds in weight.

 

CLASS D – Crossbred Rabbits/Pet Rabbit

Rules:

1.     The crossbred exhibit consists of a single rabbit of either sex in one age subcategory, Lot # 1 and 2.

2.     A Pet Rabbit consists of a single rabbit of either sex, over 6 months of age, not shown in any purebred classes.  Lot# 3 - 5

Lot#

1.     Over 6 months of age.

2.     Under 6 months of age

3.     Pet Rabbit – Grade 3-5

4.     Pet Rabbit – Grade 6-8

5.     Pet Rabbit – Grade 9 & up

CLASS E - Showmanship

Entry must be made on the regular fair entry blank to be eligible to compete and must be a rabbit that is entered in the fair for judging.

Lot #

 1. Rabbit Showmanship: Grade 3-5

 2. Rabbit Showmanship: Grade 6-8

 3. Rabbit Showmanship: Grade 9 & up

Premiums: Class E (Danish)$3.00-2.50-2.00-1.50
