JUNIOR CLASS LLAMA & ALPACA RULES AND CLASSIFICATIONS

Department 11

Domesticated Exotic Animals

LLAMAS/ALPACAS

      RULES

1.     All State of Wisconsin mandatory health regulations apply.  See State, County & District Fairs, Rules & Regulations of Animal Health in front portion of book.

2.     All Junior Fair rules apply.  See Jefferson County Fair Rules in front portion of this book.  In addition, the following rules will also be enforced.

3.     All exhibitors enter at their own risk.

4.     The judge and/or superintendent reserve the right to excuse any llama/alpaca and/or exhibitor from the show (without refund) that is behaving in a disruptive manner, violating show rules, or showing signs of ill health.  Llamas/Alpacas must be dewormed 30 days prior to show date.

5.     The age of the llama for halter classes will be determined as of the show date.

6.     All General Fairgrounds Rules and Wisconsin Administrative Code for County and District Fair Apply.

7.     Maximum of two llamas/alpacas per stall allowed.  Please identify the other party if you are sharing a stall.

8.     ALSA guidelines will be used when judging all classes.  Halter classes will be judged on conformation and soundness not fiber coverage.

9.     Youth must be 12 years old and up to show an intact llama/alpaca male 24 month+ in any class.

10.  Alpacas will show in their appropriate halter class.  Shorn and full fleece will be judged together unless enough entries justify class separation.  Showmanship, obstacle and costume classes will be combined with the llamas.

11.  Youth may enter only one animal in showmanship, obstacle and costume classes.  Youth may enter more than one animal in halter classes for llama or alpaca.

12.  Entry fees for the 4-H show will be $.50 per animal.

13.  4-H Junior show will be combined with the Waukesha County Llama/Alpaca project.  Show is scheduled for Saturday prior to the beginning of fair.  Waukesha County youth will use the entry forms provided by the Jefferson County Fair.
